mixed media bird *13arts*

Today a fun project: my mixed media bird.
And of course in my favorites colors!
Found this wooden bird (36cm) in a local store and I just had to alter it!

The fun began with collecting all kinds of metal pieces and buttons.
Added some glass filler, colored grit (grey light) and mika flakes (silver) for extra texture.
Painted all with a coat of gesso before adding all the paints.
For this project I again used my favorite turquoise and blue and green colors.

Some Scrapberry's flowers, also in 13arts store.

Metal pieces from my stash.

Thought the twigs were a nice touch, imitating some feathers.

A large key and metal leaves.

Two old buckles. You can put anything from your stash into a project!

The bottom stand.
Made all of the textures with glass filler, grit and mika flakes.

mini cakes *Maja Design*

A yummy but bittersweet blogpost.
This is my last official blogpost for Maja Design.
It's been a great journey but sometimes life got in the middle of things.
Wasn't an easy decision to stop this awesome team but I think it will be for the best.....
A huge thank you to the staff of Maja's, you're the best!
And thanks to all the talented ladies in the team, you're amazing!
I will always love Maja papers and I'm sure you will be seeing some paper projects of me in the future!

This post is all about my love for the Maja papers!
There are also some other cakes I have made with them.
Made this first one with the Summer Crush collection.

Loving the colors from the latest Maja Design papers, esp. the turquoise!
These cakes are pre made (Pipoos) but you can easily made these with small round boxes.

I used some fabric fiber to imitate the whipped creme.
Some mini beads and pearls for decoration.
Once dry, I gave it a touch with gesso.

Some flowers and mini roses in matching colors.

And her are some oldies.
Old cakes but still yummy! :)

home decor piece *13Arts*

Today a home decor piece for my friend's birthday.
Made it with her favorite colors and of course lots of 13Arts paints and embellishments.
It measures 15x40cm.

Had this wooden tray for a long time and also the wooden "love" letters.
Embellished it with flowers, beads, flakes, grit, glass beads and paints.

All the embellishments got a coat of gesso first before the paints.
Added the Scrapberry's blossom flowers and the small roses.

Got this effect on the big 13arts flowers by gessoing the flower before the paint.
Just some touches with a brush.

Flakes, beads, grit and microspheres for an awesome texture!

More texture!

photo frame with shutters *Maja Design*

A photo frame with shutters today.
Made this project with the Summer Crush collection from Maja Design.

The photo is of my youngest girl and her boyfriend when the just fell in love, about 5 years ago.

Made some rolled flowers with the papers as well.
Distressed the edges.

The white polymer items are from Scrapberry's and the heart string is a piece from a childs necklace.

For the shutters I cut small strips of paper and distressed the edges.

Never throw away an earring. Those single ones could easily be used in any project! :)

Some gesso on the flowers to get a more softer look.

A piece of paper woven through the chipboard fence.

Lots of dimension.

I'm sure you are falling in love with this collection as well!

Enjoy your day!

altered clock *13 arts*

Don't you just love when a project turns out exactly how you visualized it in your head?!!
This altered clock is one of those projects.
I knew the colors and the feel of how it had to look and I just love how it turned out!

Started this clock by glueing some kitchen paper towel with 13arts acrylic gel medium.
Added all the embellishments, buttons, pearls and gears, and give it two coats with 13arts gesso.
Painted with my favorite color, turquoise and a touch of pink.
After all the paints I added the flowers:
some paper flowers, mini roses, handmade thread flowers and the gorgeous tulle flower form 13arts.
The paper flowers were given a touch with gesso as well because I wanted a more softer look.
Also added a metal butterfly and some twigs.

Left side of the clock.
As you can see I let the design run through the left side as well.

Did the same on the right side.

The gorgeous tulle flower from 13arts.

The metal butterfly is from a Dutch home decor store.

The painted chipboard gears, buttons, pearls and metal mini flowers.
After all the paints I gave them all a touch with gesso for a more softer look.

Top and left side.

Those big paper flowers were in my stash forever and after a good coat with gesso
they matched this project perfectly!

drawers with hearts *Maja Design*

Today I want to share this project with you.
These drawers were made with the gorgeous new collection from Maja design, Summer Crush.

I took the blue and light brown colors for these drawers.

Had these chipboard hearts in my stash for a long time and finally found use for them.
They were also decorated with the papers.
Distressed all the edges.

One drawer with wooden heart and button.

Also found this metal heart in my stash.
The white polymer sea items are from Scrapberry's.

I used a lid of a small chipboard box to create some hight for the second heart.

Made some thread flowers to match the colors.

Some found seashells.

 Used some netting and gauze.

A small frame from Scrapberry's.
