precious moments

As my last post was about my oldest daughter, today I have a canvas layout of my youngest,
Yiscka and her boyfriend Martin.
Just love this photo of Yiscka, so happy and in love.

Here is how I created the background:

Started with a stencil (Hobbyshop Sandra)
and some modeling paste.(Dutch doobadoo)
Painted with the turquoise and purple acrylic paints.(Martha Stewart)
Added some water to let the colors run a bit.
Gave it all a touch of gesso (13arts) and made some splashes with the paint.
The black splashes are from 13arts Splash!

Some white leaves and twigs from my stash.

A cluster of flowers . The cherry blossoms are from Scrapberry's.

Marked some areas with a white Sharpie pen.
Outlined some edges with gelatos from Fiber Castell.

The flowers got a touch of gesso as well.

The happy couple.
Found the white frame at a local flee market.

Enjoy your day!

canvas layout "happy together"

Today I made a canvas layout with a photo of my daughter and boyfriend, or I should say her future husband. This photo was taken on the beach when he asked the big question: will you marry me?
Of course she said yes and this photo shows perfectly her emotions and happiness.
She had to cry but they were happy tears! :)

Love to work on a canvas, perfect for all the paints!

I made the background with a 13 arts flower template.
Painted with pink and orange acrylic.
To soften the bright colors, I gave it a touch with gesso.
Splashed some with 13arts Splash in black and white.

Some flowers, buttons and twigs.
Cherry blossom flowers and the metal plate are from Scrapberry's, also in 13arts shop.

Had these buttons in my stash forever, also the tiny heart bead.

My sweeties! :)

T and T, their initials of Tessa en Tom.

I love the texture of the canvas!

Enjoy your day!

mixed media beach lady

Today I want to show you my mixed media beach lady.
Inspired by the colors of the beach:
The blues for the water and the sky.
The whites for the waves.
And the cremes for the sand and shells.

Started this lady with glueing paper towel with gesso for the dress.
Made a mix from gesso and white fine sand and applied it on the dress to create the texture.
Randomly added the paints using an old credit card.
Once dry, I applied the last layer with gesso, also with the old credit card.

A lovely sandy texture.

I made the head with a clock chipboard piece.
The base was made with some paper.
It got the same texture as the dress.
Added the transparant pearls as they reminded me of some water droplets.

As the inside was hollow, I filled it with lots of crumbled paper towel.
Glued it all together and once dry, I painted with blue paints.
Also some gesso as a finishing touch.

Filled this mini glass bottle with some sand and added a piece of paper which I stamped first.

Some shells, pearls, twigs and sea stars.

Painted sandy texture.

Gave the black metal a touch with some gesso.

Enjoy your day!

two photo frames

Hi all! Today I have two photo frames with photo's of my girls and their boyfriends.
These frames are 15x15cm.

My intention was to take out the glass from the frames and start with that.
This glass, however, was stuck and didn't come loose so I decided to use it's transparency.
Glued the paper towel on the glass with the gel medium
and once dry I gave it a touch with some gesso,
just enough to keep it transparant.
(I have these frames before my window in my hobby room and
I just love the way the light shines through!)
The next step was to glue down all the flowers and other embellishments.
Gave it a coat with gesso before all the paints.
Set aside to let dry completely and finish with touches of gesso to get this look.

My youngest girl.

My oldest girl.

Nothing is safe from some gesso! :)

Some beads.

Love plate from my stash. Treated with some gesso and added some thread.

Some metal leaves.

A metal clock handle.

A piece from an old necklace.

Here you can see the effect from standing before my window.

Enjoy your day!

canvas 'LOVE'

Hello everyone!

I needed a home decor piece for my living room so I decided to make one myself! :)
It's a big canvas, 50x40cm and I used the colors of my room with turquoise as my favorite.
Used the paints, flowers and mediums from 13 arts.

For this piece I started the background with a mix from 13arts gesso and magic powder.
This mix will give it a great crackle effect!
The big twine heart was originally brown but I gave it a few layers with gesso as well.

Made a mix from 13arts gesso and their colored grit for some extra texture.
The resin is from Scrapberry.

The big flowers are also from 13arts.
Before the paints they were given some touches with gesso.
Not completely covered but randomly so this will create the lovely effect after the paint.

Some lace, beads and buttons.

Love the texture and crackles!

The big letters are from a Dutch store, Action.

Enjoy your day! Hope it's filled with lots of love!

magical *13arts*

Sadly, this will be my last blogpost for 13arts.
I have decided to take a year off from all teams.
Not that I will give up all the creativity
but I thought it would be nice to work with no deadlines for a change.
I will take up an old love of mine, photography.
Hubby and I love to make long nature walks and really enjoy being outdoors.
So every week we plan a trip and off we go........packed with my camera, lunch and drinks!

With this said, I would like to thank you Aida and the team for a fabulous year!
Thanks for the opportunity to be part of a wonderful team with such talented ladies!
I'm sure we will be seeing each other!

To all of my friends,
wishing you a fabulous, creative, healthy, sunny and magical new year!
All the best for 2016!

Magical, a winter canvas.
Started by applying modeling paste with the snowflakes stencil to the canvas.
Added the paint colors with some water to let them blend a little.
To get a more wintery/snowy effect, I dabbed some gesso with a sponge.

White flowers and twigs cluster.

Wooden mini stars and some white Splash ink.
Love that you can see the texture of the canvas!

The word magical got a coat of the white Splash ink, perfect to get a good white color.
